The Guangdong provincial capital of Guangzhou signed a group of memorandum agreements with Tampere, Finland, to expand their cooperation on vocational education on Thursday.
According to the memorandums, vocational schools in both cities will advance their cooperation in teaching and training, between schools and enterprises, and in quality management and assessments.
The memorandums were signed during the Tampere-Guangzhou Vocational Education Seminar, which is being held in Guangzhou on Thursday and Friday.
Wang Dong, deputy mayor of Guangzhou, said the cooperation with Guangzhou's sister city of Tampere will help further promote the city's vocational education.
Wang said vocational education has great potential as the prosperous Pearl River Delta region, where Guangzhou is located, lacks enough skilled workers each year.
Anna-Kaisa Ikonen, the mayor of Tampere, said the cooperation befits both sides.
