White collars in Lujiazui financial district will be able to enjoy a rich variety of cultural events in the nearby Oriental Art Center, according to an agreement reached by the district's management committee and the art center on March 20.

As the city’s financial hub, Lujiazui is home to more than 3,000 financial institutions and companies with about 470,000 white collars working on the 1.7-square-kilometer area. They have shown great interests in exhibitions, shows, concerts, plays and other cultural events.

According to the agreement, the Oriental Art Center will provide rich cultural resources for white collars in the Lujiazui financial district, including symphony, ballet, drama and opera. Meanwhile, the art center will offer tailor-made events like lectures on classic art for white collars in the district.

The art center will also join in holding the Lujiazui Financial District Cultural Festival by introducing the world’s first-class shows to the festival. The two are also considering initiating an art development fund to facilitate the growth of art and cultural organizations in the region.

As the first co-held event, the art center invited the world-renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra to present Mahler's Sixth Symphony and Dvorak’s grand Ninth Symphony – From the New World, led by the Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel.

The Lujiazui Financial District Management Committee has made a three-year action plan to promote the region’s cultural development, aiming to nurture cultural atmosphere in the region and create a cultural brand with unique characteristics of Lujiazui.

The committee also intends to draw a cultural map of Lujiazui, which marks all cultural halls, facilities and events so that white collars can enjoy the events without having to go far from their workplace.
