Jiangsu traditions to celebrate the Qingming Festival

Different from the previous traditions to worship ancestors, people in Taizhou celebrate the Qingming Festival on water. First celebrated in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the Qintong Boat Gathering Festival is held in the city for Qingming Festival every year. It features boat racing and folk dances on boats, quickly ranking as one of the top ten folk festivals in China.
