Ma Xingrui, the deputy party secretary of Guangdong Province and leader of the delegation, made a presentation called "strengthen cooperation to boost common prospect”, introducing the vast market of Guangdong for foreign investment and offering suggestions on mutual cooperation between the State of Washington and Guangdong province.
"Washington State has produced many of the technology leaders. We are confident that the state will play a leading role in bilateral trade and economic cooperation,"said Kristi Heim, executive director of the Washington State Relations Council, organizer of the conference.
The event is a follow up to Washington Governor Jay Inslee's 2013 trade mission to China, which led to an official visit by Guangdong Governor Zhu Xiaodan to Washington State in 2014.
The conference, focusing on collaboration between Guangdong Province and Washington State, was hosted by the Department of Commerce of Washington State and Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province.
The Guangdong delegation includes the president of China Aviation Industry General Aircraft and the president of Zhuhai Sunbird Yacht Manufacturing Company.
The business delegation is specifically interested in industries including advanced manufacturing, automobile, green technology, investment, trade and transportation.
"All sectors of the economy of our state and those of Guangdong have been creating huge job opportunities and continued to growth. We look forward to the meeting today and a fruitful two days,"said Brian Bonlender, director of Washington State Department of Commerce.
The delegation will stay in Seattle for two days and head to Vancouver for another business mission. After the conference meeting, they will visit Amazon, Boeing and other companies in Washington.
Chinese Deputy Consul General to San Francisco Zha Liyong, former Ambassador to China Gary Locke also attended the conference as guests.
