A big feast of Xuyi crayfishes in Huai'an

The annual food event "Xuyi Crayfish Festival, Thanksgiving Feast in Huai'an" attracted more than 3, 000 residents to enjoy delicious crayfish dishes at the Grand Canal Cultural Square in Huai'an, Jiangsu province, on June 22.

For the first time, the Xuyi Crayfish Festival was held away from its traditional host ground in Xuyi county and invited residents to have a bite of the delicious Xuyi crayfish dishes in the city.

Apart from the crayfish feast, organizers launched a lottery draw on social media platform WeChat. Among the prizes on offer were 800 entrance tickets for the crayfish feast events, 2,000 cash vouchers, 5,000 festival mascot toys and 20,000 key rings with mascot design. Art performances staged also hugely enriched the celebration.

At present, there are 1,500 membership restaurants under the brand of Xuyi Crayfish, which has won the title of China's well-known brand and product of geographical indication. The brand value of Xuyi Crayfish reached 7.2 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) in 2014, leading the brand list of fresh water agricultural products in China.
