Chen Lianzeng raises proposals for Guangxi marine economy

2015 is the year of China-ASEAN Maritime Cooperation. Chen Lianzeng, deputy director of the State Oceanic Administration recently gave a joint media interview and talked about China - ASEAN maritime cooperation in recent years.
Chen also introduced a number of joint maritime projects this year.
He said that the China-ASEAN Expo, which covers trade, investment, forums, and culture, provides a platform to promote maritime cooperation.
Meanwhile, Chen Lianzeng put forward four proposals for Guangxi to achieve sustainable development of its marine economy.
First, he advocated a high-level plan for marine economy integrated with the national strategy. Guangxi should strategically plan the development of the marine economy, upgrade traditional industries, accelerate emerging industries and develop a sustainable circular economy.
Second, Guangxi should broaden its international horizons and cooperate with other countries. The 21st century Maritime Silk Road is an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries and encourage more enterprises to trade abroad.
Third, to protect the environment Guangxi should integrated ocean management and join in regional conservation efforts.
Fourth, to encourage innovation in the marine economy, Guangxi should promote applications for scientific and technological discoveries, support creative businesses and let the market lead. In addition, he said, Guangxi should integrate the marine industry to allow technology, talent, and capital as to boost the marine economy.
