Baiyin hand knitting industry seeks new opportunities at Lanzhou Fair

Government and company representatives from the city of Baiyin were among those in attendance at the recently-held 21st Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair.

Hoping to expand its hand knitting industry market, the city, in Gansu province, secured a number of deals. Among them was the signing of a cooperation framework on hand kitting purchase and sale, signed by the Baiyin Women's Federation and China Puppet Theater on July 8.

Zhao Yongzhuang, chairman of the China Puppet Theater's board of directors, visited hand embroidery factories in Jintai county, Baiyin, where she spoke highly of the embroideries. She said that Jintai's factories will be endowed as producers of the theater's products, while the theater will be in charge of sample designs and sales.

More than 120 handcrafts produced in Baiyin were on display at the fair, including embroidered paintings, satchels, paper cutting, pendants, beads and silk scarves. The products were displayed in order to better publicize the city's hand knitting industry, according to the Baiyin Women's Federation.
