Promotion Conference on China-Malaysia Twin Parks and Malaysian Business Opportunities held

The Promotion Conference on China-Malaysia Twin Parks and Malaysian business opportunities was held at the International Conference Center of the Liyuan Resort in Nanning, Guangxi, on Sept 19, aiming to enhance the influence and recognition of the Twin Parks in the two countries and attract more investors to achieve reciprocal cooperation and win-win results.

The promotion conference was sponsored by People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Malaysia Investment Development Agency (MIDA), Government of Pahang and Malaysian East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) and organized by Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Department of Commerce of Guangxi, Administration Committee of China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and the joint venture of Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park. About 400 participants took part in the conference, including leaders of the economic, trade and investment promotion departments and representatives from the chambers of commerce and major enterprises.

The conference was moderated by Zhang Yuzhong, deputy director general of the MOFCOM Investment Promotion Agency. H.E. Zhang Xiaoqin, vice governor of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, YB. Dato’ Sri Ir. Haji Mohd Soffi Bin Tan Sri Abd. Razak, chairman of State Basic Amenities and Environment Committee, addressed the conference. Representatives from the Twin Parks elaborated on the progress, priority fields, industrial mix and incentives of their own park. Officials from MIDA, Malaysia Halal Industry Development Corporation and Malacca development agency also gave presentations on the investment environment and business opportunities in Malaysia. Representatives from China Satellite Navigation System Administration Office and China National Space Administration made their working proposals and prospect for relevant interaction with the twin parks. Representatives from Malaysia’s RH Group and IJM Group and China International Engineering Consulting Corporation also made remarks at the conference.

The signing ceremony for a batch of major projects was arranged during the conference. Those projects, with a total contractual volume of over 6 billion yuan, cover light industrial park, natural gas distributed energy system, all-in-one production service platform, new energy application system, new energy manufacturing and engineering base, industrial park for bird’s nest and natural healthcare products and industrial development fund.

The China-Malaysia Twin Parks are major cooperation projects personally proposed by leaders of the two countries, creating a brand new model for the bilateral cooperation. It is the first time for the Twin Parks to hold a joint promotion conference at the CAEXPO, where they have fully showcased their dynamism and huge potential, giving impetus to accelerate the clustering effect of the two parks.
