Ceramic culture and arts festival to open in Yixing

The 8th Yixing China International Ceramic Culture and Arts Festival will be staged in Yixing, a county-level city in Wuxi, in October, the organizing committee announced at the press conference on August 26.

Forty-two activities, including commemorations for the 100th anniversary of master artist Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996) and the 2015 Yixing Autumn Trade Fair, will be held during the festival.

Representatives from China's ten ceramics producing areas and Yixing's seven sister cities, as well as people from cultural, educational and tourist circles will attend the gathering.

Yixing is well known for its pottery, with a long pottery history of more than 7,000 years.

Its purple clay teapot craftsmanship is unique and attracts many tourists. The city was listed as a "national famous historical and cultural city" in January 2011.
