Jiangsu province has prioritized the development of Yixing, a county-level city in Wuxi. It sits at the intersection of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, and in the geometric center of Shanghai, Ningbo and Hangzhou.

With a total area of 2,038 square kilometers, Yixing has 1.07 million people, including 13 towns, five sub-districts, two national development zones (Yixing Environmental Technology Industrial Park and Jiangsu Yixing Economic Development Zone), and one provincial development zone (Jiangsu Pottery Industry Development Zone).

Yixing is an ecological and livable city with eight national 4A scenic spots. In addition, it has won many honors including "Chinese Outstanding Tourism City", "National Hygiene City", "National Environmental Protection Model City" and "National Ecological City" in recent years.

Yixing is well known for its pottery, with a long pottery history of more than 7,000 years. Its purple clay teapot craftsmanship is unique and attracts many tourists. The city was listed as a "national famous historical and cultural city" in January 2011.

Yixing is a newly-developed central city with a rapidly developing economy. In 2014, it reached total output value of 124.8 billion yuan ($19.96 billion), public finance budget revenue of 9.45 billion yuan and social consumer goods turnover of 46.5 billion yuan.
