Miaofeng Mountain is one of the Taihang mountains, 55 km from Beijing. The 20 sq-km mountain area is dotted with ancient temples, roses and oddly-shaped trees. The park is full of medicinal plants and fruit; according to an ancient saying, the” surrounding hills are like paintings, and the blossoms last nearly a year.” The area, a former religious center during the Ming ( 1368-1644 ) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties, is home to three temple groups, as well as 14 sacred palaces for Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and folk gods. The traditional folk temple fair has made the spot one of the best attractions in the Beijing area.
