JD.com launches new distribution center

Jiaozhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Qingdao, signed a cooperation agreement with JD.com, one of the largest B2C online retailers in China, to set up Shandong's largest logistics distribution center, reported china.com.cn.

The center will replace Beijing to dispatch goods to Shandong users. It will take only one day to deliver packages within Shandong, said Zhang Yingxin, general manager of the Shanghai branch of Jingdong Mall.

The project will also upgrade local industry chains, including e-commerce and logistics. It will lift Jiaozhou's e-commerce supply chain and integrate the city's commodities, trading and services.

Jiaozhou's companies and featured products will have a chance to reach beyond their home market. Local residents will be able to shop online and do business, logistics and marketing-related jobs.

Shao Jiwei, general manager of Jingdong Mall in North China said that the local government has a clear long-term plan. Its high-efficiency and down-to-earth working style also impressed them.

Qingdao is a center along the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and the Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport is scheduled to be completed in 2019.

"Jiaozhou's location agrees with our program of providing online shopping in Qingdao," Shao added.

Jiaozhou, a county-level city of Qingdao, is becoming an international three-dimensional logistics hub, with low cost and high efficiency in logistics.

The local government is joining hands with strong partners to guide traditional businesses. It is also conducive to China-South Korea cross-border transactions.

Jingdong plans to build a regional settlement center, an intelligent logistics base and a regional purchasing center in its provincial largest e-commerce industry park.

All in all, the cooperation will not only promote regional industry, but also benefit the public. Over the next few years, Jiaozhou's electronics businesses and logistics are expected to be a highlight in Shandong province.
