The building of 'Coastal Green Great Wall'

Environmental protection will be a major consideration for economic and infrastructure development to be approved. Three plans related to the recovery of modern agriculture, water conservancy construction and ecological environment will be carried out in Leizhou Island this year. Authorities hope to develop the island into a suitable place for business and living, and foster a balanced ecology there. The government will designate pilot reforestation projects on the island to build a 'Coastal Green Great Wall' in the city.

Nationwide transportation zone for fresh produce to be set up

The government will focus more strongly on agriculture in rural areas and farmers in Zhanjiang in 2016. Plans have been outlined to optimize the output of local fields to benefit workers in the industry. The city aims to become an advantageous region for fresh produce transportation to northern areas of the country. Local demonstration zones related to fruits, grains and fresh produce will be improved to set up to achieve this and farmers will be able to access more preferential policies as the government seeks to advance its protection systems for workers.
