My journey in Chengdu

Falling into the subtropical monsoon climate belt, Chengdu is characterized by four distinct seasons with moderate climate. It is comfortable for visitors to travel to Chengdu in spring and fall, so I visit there in spring. As the top tourist attraction in China, Chengdu has convenient transportation, such as subway, bus, taxi, train and plane. Therefore I have nothing to worry about in terms of transport. I have traveled to Chengdu twice, though time is not long, I would like to share some fantastic places and delicious food with you.

Chengdu is absolutely paradise for foodies. I went to some wonderful streets. All of them are recommended by lots of experienced visitors and I enjoy myself in there too. As the most well-known street in Chengdu, Jinli Street plays host to a great number of visitors from domestic and overseas. Every time I stayed in Chengdu only for three days so it is the best choice for me to taste a variety of snacks with the least time; Second, Broad and Narrow Alley, which is very busy during the day or night. It has not only delicious food, but traditional courtyards which is deserved to stop. Many tourists are so enchanted by the night scene that doesn’t want to leave, so do I; Third, Kuixinglou Street. In this street, there is a famous snack that called Tangyouguozi which is made of sticky rice and sesame. It is evenly heated, scorched outside but tender inside and purely hand-made. This kind of snack is quite palatable; Fourth, Tangba Street. It is filled with civil culture as well as modern civilization. This is where the essence of Tangba Street lies. The historic street accommodates the whole neighborhood and moistens things silently, as time goes by, old residents get along harmoniously with young visitors. More and more people are attracted to Tangba Street by its reputation.

Certainly, as City of Gastronomy, Chengdu is worthy of the name. Chengdu has a great number of snacks. Now I will introduce some of them to you. For example, Lai tang yuan, which named after the boss of the Old Store Laiyuanxing and created firstly in the period of Guangxu at the end of Qing Dynasty; Pork Lungs in Chili Sauce, a cold dish unique to Sichuan that created by a couple fifty years ago; Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs, it is suitable for people who prefer bland diet. But in Chengdu, chili is the predominant ingredient in food, so if you want to try Chengdu’s spiciest food, you must make sure that you can handle with chili. Kung Pao Chicken is another spicy dish, in this dish, chicken is main ingredient. Peanut and cucumber are auxiliary material. Of course, chili is indispensable. What is more, Sichuan Spicy Dandan Noodles, Ma Po Tofu, Twice-cooked pork are also scrumptious, and makes me run at the mouth.

The most noteworthy is that if Chengdu were a picture, hotpot would be a thick and heavy in colors. I like hotpot very much. When I order a hotpot, I can see a big pot of spicy soup and spices simmering in a hole in the middle of my table, while the hotpot is keeping simmering, ingredients have already placed into the pot such as fried tough twist, beef, potatoes, fish balls, tofu, and lamb. What’s more, you can order the Yuan Yang Hotpot which is half spicy and half clear if you cannot eat too much chili. As we all know, hotpot is very popular here, there are numerous restaurants and stalls serving up spicy pots to passers-by. There are over 10 varieties of Chengdu hotpot including hotpot with boiled mutton, and hot pot with beer duck and all are pretty spicy.

Chengdu is not only a city of gastronomy, but a tourist attraction. There are many famous scenic spots such as Du Fu’s thatched cottage where a Chinese great poet Du Fu once lived; a five-star Park Huan Huaxi Park; Temple of Marquis (Chengdu’s Wuhou Temple) as well as Dujiang Weir, etc.

Could it be said that you would not like to pig out with your friends and enjoy yourself in Chengdu? In here, Girls can never eat like a bird in order to keep a slender figure. What they can do is just keeping eating all the time! I am looking forward to my next trip to Chengdu!
