What you need to know about Wenxian county

One tenth of all pandas in China can be found at Baishuijiang National Reserve in Wenxian county, giving it its other moniker "the hometown of pandas".

The county is also famous for local specialties such as Chinese prickly ash, matsutake mushrooms and the toadstool-shaped agaric.

The beautiful scenery in Tianchi National Forest Park and the stockaded villages of the Baima Tibetan ethnic group attract tourists from home and abroad every year.

The county has a land area of around 5,000 square kilometers and a population of 240,090 (2012).
