Discover the beauty of Shanxi for free（2016）

Xu Xiake (1587-1641) was a Chinese travel writer and geographer famous for his masterpiece Xu Xiake's Travels. Now, you have an opportunity to become a modern Xu Xiake! If you love to travel, and love to write a travel diary, we want you!

Launched by China Daily, 50 participants will enjoy the opportunity to feel the beauty of Chinese scenery and culture by taking part in the activity “Shanxi Through the Eyes of Foreigners, organized by China Daily and the Shanxi Tourism Bureau.”

Shanxi is regarded as an important cradle of Chinese civilization. It boasts the magnificent Taihang Mountain, the Yellow River, which has nurtured the millennia-old Chinese civilization, Wutai Mountain, which is a famous Buddhist site, the Yungang Grottoes that were carved about 1,600 years ago and the ancient town of Pingyao the best preserved ancient county in the country.

Costs

All accommodation, food, transport and entry tickets for the scenic spots will be paid for by China Daily. Travel insurance and other incidental costs (such as extra nights, international telephone calls and faxes, business center services, room service, laundry and mini-bar charges) will not be covered.

Application requirements:

1. Foreigners (fluent in English).

2. Good at writing and photography, influential on social network sites.

3. Samples of work published by media outlets or posted on social network sites.

Time and place of trip:

June 15-19, in early August and in late September, 2016. Shanxi province (A detailed schedule will be released to participants.)

How to apply:

1. Please download the RSVP form and send it back to: events@chinadaily.com.cn, with all your personal information. We will not share your personal information with any third party.

2. Submitted photographs must not have been digitally edited, but cropping is allowed. The articles and photos you submit are ONLY for the selection process and will not be published in any form.

3. Please note the time you prefer to participate. We also encourage applicants to write briefly about their motivation for joining the trip and their expectations.

This activity requires participants to post articles and photographs via their personal social networking accounts on time. China Daily will later select some of the works for publication.

What is“洋霞客”？我们的标准：一是热爱旅游；二是爱写游记，就像徐霞客一样的“爱玩会写”，不同的是，你不姓徐，而是姓“洋”──是外国朋友。对精选为“洋霞客”的，我们将颁布荣誉证书。

精选到“洋霞客”干什么？

来大陆免费旅游，写（英文）游记（包括文章和照片）。而“洋霞客”们今年旅游的第一站就是被称为“中国古代文化博物馆”的山西省。

由中国日报社发起的品牌活动——感受中国美丽景色和传统文化之旅活动，正式向全球招募50名“洋霞客”，然后赴山西参加由中国日报社与山西省旅游局共同组织的“洋眼看山西”活动。

山西是中华文明的重要发祥地，这里有雄奇壮美的太行山，有孕育了中华五千年文明的黄河，有世界著名佛教圣地五台山，有中国四大石窟之一的云冈石窟，这里更有中国保存最为完整的明清时代县城——平遥古城。这里的风景会让你震撼，这里的文化会让你沉醉，这里的历史会让你惊叹，这里会让你领略5000年的中华文明。

活动所有的食宿费及往返交通费用。

招募条件：

1. 外籍特约撰稿人；

2. 有良好的写作功底、较高的摄影水平、较大的社交网络影响力；

3. 在有一定影响力的纸质媒体或网络媒体发表过作品者优先。

 

活动时间、地点：

2016年6月15-19日、8月上旬及9月下旬，中国山西省。

3. 报名时请注明希望参加活动时间，请报名者简要撰写参加本次活动的动因，以及希望从本次活动中得到的收获。

本次活动要求参加的特约撰稿人/摄影师按时撰写活动稿件、拍摄摄影作品或在自己的社交媒体账号发布美丽山西“全域旅游”相关内容，稍后我们将在《中国日报》甄选、刊登部分作品。
