Former village leader in Wukan probed for taking bribes

Investigations into former Party secretary of Wukan village in Guangdong province, Lin Zulian, have intensified up following a video confession to charges of corruption.

Lin, who was elected as village chief by local villagers in 2012, was arrested in a midnight raid over the weekend. A video of a confession to corruption charges later emerged on June 20.

Lin admitted taking bribes totaling 80,000 yuan ($12105.71) from 420,000 yuan ($63554.99) project to install plastic running tracks in local schools in a video confession. Concerns over the safety of the tracks have been raised. Lin’s case has been put on file and an investigation is underway, according to officials from judicial authority of Shanwei city.
