Zhongguancun grabs cutting-edge innovation high ground
Many novel but useful "black technologies" such as the unmanned electronic golf vehicle, the nanometer-material shock-proof running shoes and the artificial intelligent blind guiding helmet based on cloud technology are bringing changes to people's lives.
Being one of the cradles of original innovations in China, Zhongguancun is committed to following the most advanced technological trends in the world and has achieved significant innovative results in various fields such as biotechnology and original new materials.
As for unmanned driving, Wu Gansha, founder of the UISEE co., Ltd, a company focused on providing solutions for driverless autos, and the former director of the Intel China Research Center, said there are more than six million private cars with low usage rate in Beijing, occupying a lot of parking space. The unmanned taxies, integrated with online taxi booking and real-time traffic control, will efficiently improve road usage and lower travel costs by more than 60 percent.
Wu added that several companies, such as Baidu, NextEV and LeTV, intend to apply their strategic technical cores to intelligent driving. Additionally, future unmanned driving automobiles will be created through Chinese original technology.
In terms of the usage of the nanometer applications, Liu Tao, CEO of X-energy Innovations Co., Ltd, an enterprise concentrating on researching and producing functional nanometer materials, said some nanometer-material products are now used on shock-proof devices of electronic cars, which can decrease the cars’ weight by 10 percent compared to the traditional metal devices.
He also mentioned that such new materials will be used on sports safety protectors, child safety seats, logistics transportation, architectural conservation and even body armor in the future.
More and more enterprises focusing on high-technology are settling in the Zhongguancun Science Park and are encouraged to research new technical achievements to become innovative leaders.
As advanced technology springs up, new employment demands are created, helping to advance the Chinese economy.
