Tech conference to boost mobile Internet

The 2016 Canton Tower Science & Technology Conference — Global Mobile Developer Conference and Internet Leaders' Summit will be held in Guangzhou between Dec 8 and 9, to present the latest information and technology in the industry.

Developed from Android World Global Developers Conference, four sessions of the conference have been held, according to Zhu Dongfang, vice president of IDG China, organizer of the event.

This year's conference will include 12 parallel forums on topics such as the global trend for virtual reality and augmented reality products, mobile applications development, artificial intelligence and big data, he said.

Guangzhou was chosen to host the conference due to its rapid development in the field of mobile Internet.

The Guangzhou city government has adopted the goal of building the city into an international scientific and technological innovation hub, said Ma Shu, an inspector from the Guangzhou Science Technology and Innovation Commission.

The conference will help to attract more investors and startups to base themselves in Guangzhou.

Newly registered high-tech companies in Guangzhou are expected to total 1,200 this year, an increase of 263 from last year, Ma said.

A total of 295 Guangzhou-based companies are listed on the New Third Board, or National Equities Exchange and Quotation System, which is a national share transfer system for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The city houses 184 incubators, with a combined area of 7.7 million square meters.
