Xi’an, capital city of Shaanxi province, plans to construct a comprehensive food safety traceability system during the city’s 13th Five-Year-Plan (2016-20) period.
Xi’an is widely known for being one of China’s ancient capitals with a history of over 3,000 years.
The city released a food safety administration plan earlier this month, making it clear that the city will strengthen the daily supervision of food safety, according to the Xi’an food and drug administration bureau.
The city will also improve its support technology for the food safety administration. Additionally, a food production enterprise credit system will be constructed as well, said local authorities.
By the end of the 13th Five-Year-Plan period (2016-20), the city is expected to realize a 100 percent food safety spot check for food production, food selling and catering services.
