COSDF cares for maternal and child health

On May 12, the International Forum on Maternal Child Health & Development & the Conference on the Breastfeeding for Love Project, co-hosted by the China Overseas-Educated Scholars Development Foundation (COSDF) and People’s Hospital of Peking University, were held in Beijing.

As an international communication platform, the forum aims to serve workers from the maternal and infant care industry in professional interactions and skill improvement.

Qin Geng, director-general of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the PRC’s Department of Maternal and Child Health, said that breastfeeding plays an important role in health. He hopes that the Breastfeeding for Love Project will become a long-term public welfare project with Chinese characteristics.

Zhao Yue, secretary of the hospital’s party committee, said that People’s Hospital of Peking University plans to explore a public service mode of breast feeding. “More volunteers are welcomed to join us,” he added.

Breastfeeding for Love has received full support from experts at home and abroad, including Nancy Mohrbacher and Jennifer Rebecca Thomas. They are willing to promote the development of China’s maternal and child industry with their professional experience and offer technology and managing support to the project.

More than 200 industrial representatives and reporters attended the event.
