'Chinese Culture Goes Miles' launches in Beijing

"Chinese Culture Goes Miles" plans to launch three main activities --- a reading project, a global competition and a sinology gala -- to further help Chinese traditional culture to go global, it was announced at the launching ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on June 23.

At the ceremony, Cao Weizhou, general director of the China Oversea-Educated Scholars Development Foundation (COSOF), issued appointment letters to 12 domestic sinologists and nine from Russia, the UK, Canada, Australia, Portugal, Spain and Ethiopia.

"We hope to bring Chinese culture to the world via 'Chinese Culture Goes Miles' by arousing the patriotism of students abroad and enhancing the cultural identity of overseas Chinese, " Cao said.

The launching ceremonies of Hainan Danzhou National Sinology Industrial Park and Zhonghuayun International Education Platform of Sinology were also held at the event.

The event was co-hosted by COSOF and the Institute of World Religions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
