China promotes books on entrepreneurs and enterprises at BIBF

China’s leading publishing house exhibited a bilingual series on China’s notable private enterprises and their leaders during the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) on Aug 24.

The ten books, in English and Chinese, touch upon Jack Ma and Alibaba, Ren Zhengfei and Huawei, Pony Ma and Tencent, Wang Jianlin and Wanda, as well as Dong Mingzhu and Gree.

A key project of the China Translation and Publishing House (CTPH), the series looks deep into the lives of private entrepreneurs and how they succeeded. It also analyzes their contribution to China’s economic development and increasing global influence.

The CTPH and the corresponding foreign publishing houses worked closely -- through in-depth market research and multi-round discussions about readers’ interest -- since the series’ initial stage.

Li Yan, vice president of the China Publishing Group Corporation, said the project is a success story of co-research, planning, writing, translation and design by CTPH and British LID Publishing.

Li said the series will soon publish more books about other people and their companies to promote Chinese enterprise and culture on the global stage.

Martin Liu, general manager of LID Publishing, said the books have been well received in Britain since their June publication.

In August, CTPH signed a copyright export agreement for the series with Econ Publishers of South Korea.

The 24th Beijing International Book Fair took place at the China International Exhibition Center from August 23 to 27. More than 2,400 exhibitors from 89 countries and regions exhibited publications and engaged in copyright, trade and cooperation meetings.
