Start Group, a Fujian-headquartered listed company mainly engaged in IT, announced on Nov 28 that Denis Yip (Ye Chenghui) has become its new president and CEO. He was also appointed to the company's board.
"Yip's appointment is an important step to achieve our development strategy in the future. He is also the best choice for the company's promotion of mobile Internet plus the Internet of Things (IoT)," said Jing Baifu, chairman of Start Group.
A well-known senior figure in the IT industry, Yip has more than 26 years of experience in information management, software and global sales and services. He was the executive director, CEO and president of Digital China Holdings before joining Start Group.
In the past, Yip helped EMC to lay a solid foundation for development in China by promoting cooperation with China's top manufacturers of original branded IT equipment, including Lenovo, Digital China, Futong and Changhong IT.
As a global solution provider of ITaaS, EMC helps its clients to store, manage, protect and analyze their information in a faster, more reliable and economical manner. It offers innovative products and services which can effectively accelerate cloud computing.
During his tenure as EMC's global senior vice-president and as the company's president of Greater China from 2006 to 2017, Yip successfully increased the company's revenue eight-fold and expanded its market share in China.
Yip was appointed global vice-president of Dell Inc and EMC's president of China following Dell's merger and acquisition with EMC in October 2015. In 2003, he became the youngest global vice-president of IBM.
Thanks to a couple of mergers and acquisitions with quality enterprises in China, Start Group has become an advanced solution provider for mobile smart terminals and security systems and a developer of related upstream industrial chains.
By taking the hardware industry as its core business and "mobile Internet plus IoT" as its supplement, Start Group will continue to explore new business, such as smart wearable equipment, home automation and smart security and prevention systems.
"Start Group is an excellent company with nearly 30 years of history, and we are ready to embrace a more promising future in mobile Internet and IoT. I am confident I can use my experience to lead the company in the industry and cross-border management," said Yip.
