Hanergy launches mobile energy solution to lighten Africa
On April 27, Hanergy hosted a press conference in Beijing to release a new mobile energy solution --- Humbrella.
Humbrella, named after "Hanergy" and "Hope", is the world's first multi-functional umbrella based on flexible thin-film solar technology with 159 patents. It expands 2.7 meters in diameter, weighs about 9 kilograms, and is covered by a layer of flexible film, which generates electricity no matter the weather.

LED lights evenly distributed under the surface of Humbrella generate an output of 53 watts. A fully charged Humbrella can store 40000 mAh, which can provide up to 10-hours of lighting. The lights will meet the diverse needs of families in Africa, where the product is targeted, with three modes --- on-off, lighting and reading, and a power indicator.
A USB interface and a mobile phone charging line on the umbrella handle are other intimate design features. They provide power not only to mobile phones but also to a variety of household small appliances.
There is also a pallet for books and small appliances on the handle, which allows children to share the fun of learning.
Li Hejun, founder and board chairman of Hanergy, was invited to give a themed speech. Li said, "Hanergy really hopes to help Africa’s growth, and especially to serve the people here, with our thin-film solar technology and the R&D ability of mobile energy application products."

"We hope to lighten African people's lives with Humbrella, and brighten African further with mobile energy," Li added.
As the initiator of the event, Hanergy will donate the first batch of Humbrellas to African countries. The Humbrellas will be sent to local educational institutions and children in poor areas through the international exchange promotion associations of China civil society organizations.
More than 120 guests from African countries, NGOs, enterprises and media attended the press conference.
