At the conference, Xu Changdong, president of the Association of European and American Alumni Associations, announced that the association and the China Scholarship Development Foundation will host the 17th Forum of Going Global Strategy for Chinese Enterprises in the Great Hall of the People on Dec 1, 2018.

Based on the theme of "the 5th Anniversary of the ’Belt and Road Initiative" and the "Road to Globalization Development", the forum will invite the leaders of relevant ministries and commissions such as the NDRC and the Ministry of Commerce, internationally renowned political and financial figures and representatives of investment and financial institutions. Delegates from from over 700 countries and regions involved with the Belt and Road Initiative will also be in attendance.

Liu Jiaxiang, executive vice president of the Association of European and American Alumni Associations, remarked that the forum always focuses on new trends and changes in international and domestic economic and trade development.

The 2018 forum will pay special attention to promoting cooperation between China and BRI countries in the field of ecological and environmental protection, and explore the protection of intellectual property rights concerning trade between China and the US.

Two round tables will also take place to discuss "green ecology and the protection of intellectual property rights" and "the review and outlook of China-US trade", aiming to analyze and explore the demands and challenges emerging in the new era of the world economy.

A project launch will also be held at the forum. Key projects with strong innovation capabilities and high technical levels will be shown on-site, leaders of relevant ministries and commissions will be invited to make targeted, professional and authoritative policy interpretations, and representatives from BRI countries will discuss their local investment environment and business opportunities.

A short film on the resumption of the shipping trade in the seventies between China and the US, following a thirty year hiatus, is also on the agenda. Qian Yongchang, a former communication minister, and Mr. Stanley Bell, an American legal strategist, played key roles in the symbolic voyage of the Liu Linhai to Seattle, and will both reunite at the forum.
