Population: By the end of 2019, the registered population was 1.7 million, and the permanent resident population was 1.64 million with an urbanization rate of 57.2 percent.

Tongling has a distinctive industrial economy and gradually formed an industrial development pattern with copper-based new materials and new-energy vehicles as the leading industries, and electronic information, equipment manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, fine chemical industry and other industries developing simultaneously.

The GDP for 2019 was 96.02 billion yuan, while per capita GDP was 58,726 yuan.

Administrative divisions:

The city of Tongling has jurisdiction over three urban districts（Tongguan, Yian and Jiaoqu）and one county（Zongyang ).
