Huzhou, situated in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, is gradually emerging as a popular tourism destination for visitors in the region.

Due to the city's strategic location, Du Yongping decided quit his job as a senior executive in a company in Shanghai and open a hotel in Huzhou.

Huixin Retreats, the name of the hotel Du opened, is situated in Miaoxi town, Wuxing district, nestled among dense bamboo forests and tea gardens.

With a total investment of 300 million yuan ($43.17 million), Huixin Retreats features 63 houses and a boutique hotel.

Although the price is comparable to that of a five-star hotel, it is still hard to find a room on the weekends.

The air, with its high negative oxygen ion concentration, has been said to improve people's moods. Visitors to the hotel are mostly from cities such as Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Nanjing, Du said.

A total of 16 tourism projects with a combined value of over 18 billion yuan have been carried out in Miaoxi town to date, according to Yang Yanyan, deputy head of the administrative committee of Saishan tourism resort zone.

In 2019, Miaoxi received a total of 1.2 million tourists, generating 266 million yuan in revenue.
