The US's Broadcom Corp paid a visit to Beijing's Economic-Technological Development Area, on Nov 4, when its president and CEO, Scott McGregor, led members of its board of directors to Beijing to discuss setting up a branch in the area and to study China’s market and investment conditions.

During their visit to the area, known as E-town, they got a thorough review of the Beijing government's industrial policies on semiconductor companies, with the focus on R&D and spoke with vice directors of the E-town, Sheng Licheng and Chen Xiaonan, with Sheng describing foreign investment policies and industrial development in the area and how funding for the integrated circuitry business works in Beijing.

McGregor said he admired the rapid development of the area in such a short time and that his company wanted to work with the area, since it covered almost all the industrial operations of his company.

Broadcom is a Fortune 500 company and a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, with products covering a wide range of connectivity in homes, offices and mobile communications. Its slogan is "changing the world by connecting everything" and it ranks first in the world in chip R&D and production.

The visitors also got a look at the new technology exhibition hall showing products developed in the area.
