The Alumni Association of Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) opened its first imbark center in Beijing Economic-technical Development Area (BDA) recently, aiming to create a service platform for medical start-ups by taking advantage of its existing resources.

The PKUHSC alumni association, with tens of thousands of members across the country, has gathered China’s top medical talents and entrepreneurs. E-town will join hands with the PKUHSC alumni to create an independent space to serve the alumni and other start-ups in the medical industry.

Sheng Licheng, vice director of the BDA, said that the emerging health industry has witnessed a booming trend in recent years.

The development zone has already attracted many international pharmaceutical giants such as Bayer, Sanofi, Dauucgu-Sankyo, and GE and top pharmaceutical enterprises in China such as Tongrentang, Baitai, and Tiantan Bio to settle down.

Sheng said that E-town will further deepen reform and expand opening-up, taking strategic measures such as carrying out cooperation with prestigious universities such as PKUHSC, participating in international science cooperation and communications, and drawing more high-end talents to start up businesses in E-town. It aims to be a national scientific and technological innovation center.

Ke Yang, vice president of Peking University and president of the Alumni Association of PKUHSC, expressed gratitude to the management committee of Beijing Economic-technological Development Area for supporting the establishment of the imbark base.

She said many of the PKUHSC alumni are starting their own businesses with their professional knowledge, many of whom may be attracted by the imbark base in E-town. She also called for more funding and policy support from E-town to the alumni.
