The 3rd China Cardiovascular Devices Industry Investment CEO Conference, which aims to build an effective platform for government, industry, investment and clinicians in cardiovascular, cerebral vascular and clinical fields, was held in E-town on September 8. It was the first time that E-town launched start-up competition to seek quality projects in the field of cardio-cerebrovascular medical technology. E-town expects to attract more medical instrument enterprises to settle down through organizing such activities.

As a leading industry in E-town, the high-tech bio-medical industry is gradually becoming a new brand of China’s intelligent manufacturing. In the first half of 2016, the output value of E-town’s bio-medical industry reached 10 billion yuan.

JOINN Laboratories, Inc in E-town purchased Bayer’s R&D and manufacturing base in San Francisco and established the JOINN innovative park in the US, creating a trend of Chinese bio-medical enterprises purchasing transnational corporations’ global R&D bases abroad. Early last year, Youcare Pharmaceutical Group Co., LTD purchased Actavis’ pharmaceutical factory, the third largest generics firm in the world; the first time a Chinese chemical pharmaceutical enterprise had purchased an American pharmaceutical factory.

Through overseas acquisition, JOINN Laboratories, Inc and Youcare Pharmaceutical Group Co not only obtained plants and equipment that meet American GMP standards but also got advanced software systems and experienced experts, which upgraded the ability of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises in research and development.

As an important region of Beijing’s bio-medical industry, E-town clusters more than 700 competitive bio-medical companies such as Bayer, Sanofi, GE Healthcare and Tongrentang Group, covering biological medicine, medical instruments, medical research and medical services. The output value of E-town’s biological medicine sector reached 42.9 billion yuan in 2015, more than 50 percent of Beijing’s.
