The press conference of 2016 World Robot Conference.

The Press Conference of World Robot Conference2016 was held in China Hall of Science and Technology, Beijing on July 12. Sui Zhenjiang, Deputy Mayor of Beijing People's Government, Song Jun, member of Leading Party Group, Head of Academic Department and Director of Enterprise Work Office of China Association for Science and Technology, Sun Feng, Deputy Director of Equipment Industry Division, Ministry of Industry and Information, Liu Yinchun, Deputy Secretary General of Beijing Municipal People's Government, Zhang Boxu, Director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, XuXiaolan, Secretary General of WRC2016 and Deputy Chairman and Secretary General of Chinese Institute of Electronics, and Sheng Licheng, Deputy Director of Beijing Economic and Technical Development Zone Management Committee, attended the press conference. The conference was presided over by Liu Yinchun, Deputy Secretary General of Beijing Municipal People's Government.

It is reported that WRC 2016 is organized by Beijing Municipal People's Government, Ministry of Industry and Information, and China Association for Science and Technology, and undertaken by Chinese Institute of Electronics,Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology,and Beijing Economic and Technical Development Zone Management Committee. WRC 2016 will be held in Beijing EtownInternational Convention and Exhibition Center on Oct.21 to Oct.25, 2016.

At the conference, Sun Zhenjiang, Deputy Mayor of Beijing People's Government, and Song Jun, member of Leading Party Group, Head of Academic Department and Director of Enterprise Work Office of China Association for Science and Technology, delivered speeches respectively. XuXiaolan, Secretary General of WRC2016, introduced the preparation and progress of the conference.

WRC 2016 is divided into three parts: forum, expo and robot competition. The forum will invite well-known experts and entrepreneurs from China, Germany, USA, Japan and Korea to carry out high level academic exchange and discussion on many issues, including cutting-edge scientific research, technical development route and strategy and policy formulation. Over 300 domestic and foreign experts, including Joe Gemma, Chairman of International Federation of Robotics, OussamaKhatib, Chairman of IFRR, TaminAsfour, Chairman of DGR, AtsuoTakanishi, Chairman of Japan Robot Association, ZviShiller, Chairman of IROB, and Dan Zhang, Chairman of IEEE RAS, will attend the forum. Moreover, nearly 20 themed forums will be held in robot-related fields of artificial intelligence, medical robot, unmanned intelligent vehicle and unmanned aerial vehicle.

The indoor and outdoor exhibition area of WRC 2016 will reach over 40000 m2, and be divided into international exhibition zone, industrial robot exhibition zone, service robot exhibition zone and specialized robot exhibition zone to intensively demonstrate the latest scientific results, applied products and solutions in the robot field of the world. By then, domestic and foreign well-known enterprises and their advanced products, such as Siasun, HIT Robot Group, STEP, IROBOT, EPSON, Khema, Foxconn, Icub Robot, Pepper Robot, Robotics ThorMang2 Robot and Teotronico Piano Robot, will disclose strikingly.

With rapid development of the artificial intelligence technology, the unmanned aerial vehicle and unmanned driving technology become one of popular fields that multiple world-famous enterprises and institutionsstudy and deploy competitively. WRC 2016 sufficiently focuses on the most advanced and cutting-edge technology fields. The competition containsmultiple robot competitions with high technology content, wide discipline span, extensive participation range and high demonstration performance, such as Unmanned Driving Challenge, Robot Star Challenge, International Underwater Robot Competition, RobocupChallenge and UAV Flight LimitationChallenge. The competition not only sufficiently shows the latest and cutting-edge intelligent, high-tech research findings and applications in the world, but also integrates academic communication, fighting entertainment games and science popularization into one. It will surely become a high-profile link of WRC 2016.

Finally, the WRC 2016 "100Days Countdown" launch ceremony was held in the press conference. The opening of countdown marks that preparation of the conference enters into the comprehensive sprinting stage.
