E-town economy on fast track

Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-town) has maintained fast economic development during January and February with the added value of industrial companies above a designated scale increasing by 23.3 percent, higher than the city average of 9.5 percent.
The GDP of E-town and Daxing district, two development areas in Beijing, hit 130 billion yuan ($18.87 billion), representing 51 percent of the GDP of Beijing city's industrial companies above a designated scale.
The high-tech manufacturing industry and modern manufacturing industry have become the main engines for economic growth, increasing by 19.9 percent and 16.5 percent respectively.
Innovation has played a more active role in boosting the economy with BOE Technology Co becoming the largest supplier of LCD panels globally, with 22.3 percent of global market share.
