Beijing E-town witnesses new economic growth in first half

Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-town) maintained steady economic growth in the first half of 2017, with GDP growth ranking first in the Beijing region, according to local media.

The added value of industries in E-town reached 37.22 billion yuan ($5.52 billion), representing year-on-year growth of 18.7 percent –– 13.1 percentage points higher than the city average.

The figure made up 20.7 percent of the added value of industries in Beijing.

The six pillar industries of E-town including high-end cars, biomedicine, urban industry, and new energy and new materials made significant contributions to the economic growth of the region.
