National center for new energy vehicles established in BDA

A national center for new energy vehicles was set up in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) to coordinate the development of the industry on March 1, according to local media.
The National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center was unveiled in BDA by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Beijing municipal government.It is the only national center for new energy vehicles in China.
Constructed in 1992, the development area was approved by the State Council as the only national economic technological development area in Beijing on Aug 25, 1994.
It has become a high-end tech hub with international influence following more than 20 years of growth, with Fortune 500 companies and world-renowned multinational corporations flocking there.
BDA has been working to boost development in the new energy vehicles industry and developing an industrial cluster. A technological innovation center worth 1.5 billion yuan ($217 million) has been set up in the zone, wholly owned by BAIC BJEV, the electric car-making arm of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp (BAIC).
