Beijing official visits BDA-based carmakers

Cai Qi, secretary of Beijing Municipal Committee, visited two carmakers based in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) on April 24, according to local media.
The government official first went to an engine plant owned by BBAC to investigate and study the entire process of the production line in detail, and talked to frontline workers to understand the position of BBAC’s products and components in Mercedes-Benz's global industrial and supply chain. He encouraged the company to increase its independent innovation research and development efforts, continuously improve quality, and promote the development of related industries through high-end manufacturing, and make a difference in the implementation of the “Made in China 2025” national strategy.
At the research and development center owned by BAIC BJEV, Cai viewed new energy vehicle replacement technology, the all-media vehicle monitoring platform and a new energy new model display. He also listened to a report on the planning and construction of an industrial park and underlined the importance of the safety of data generated by new energy vehicles.
BJEV, the electric car-making arm of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp (BAIC), is one of the leading new-energy carmakers in China.
Based in the BDA, BBAC is a joint venture founded by BAIC Motor, Daimler AG and DGRC. The company currently produces the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, long wheelbase E-Class and GLK SUV vehicles. The new plant extensions will accommodate the future production of new generation compact cars (NGCC) based on Mercedes-Benz front-wheel drive architecture.
