Renewable energy will take up more than 10 percent of the Beijing Daxing International Airport's energy consumption mix when construction is completed next year, said the municipal authorities on late Wednesday.

Such a renewable energy adoption level will be the highest among all airports in the country, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform.

The new airport, which is scheduled to be put into operation in 10 months, has adopted photovoltaic solar energy on roofs of the parking structure and business jets hangar while the geothermal energy will be used in service facilities for airfield.

Particularly, the distributed solar energy generation system will provide 6.1 million kilowatt-hours annually for the airport, which will account for 1 percent of the total energy consumption.

In addition to the renewables, traditional power plants and natural gas will also supply energy for the new airport.
