Liangjiang Robotics Incubator Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), set to be West China's first robotics business incubator, started construction in Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing on June 19.
The incubator center, which will have a registered capital of 20 million yuan ($3.22 million), has so far received investments worth 300 million yuan. The center is planned to incubate 50 robot-related enterprises by 2020, whose total output value is expected to reach 2 billion yuan.
The center will lay emphasis on the development of industrial robots for welding, transporting and assembling and special robots for security protection, rescue and medical treatment.
The Chongqing Institute of CAS will give the center equipment and technology support. The equipment valued nearly 200 million yuan used for robot simulation design, micro and nano-fabrication and 3D printing will become available to enterprises in the center with a view to foster their development and to cut costs.
Meanwhile, CAS will make good use of its rich human resources. It will assign a batch of robotics professors and experts to the center to provide guidance to robot developers and business starters, which will make the center more appealing to robotics start-ups.
"Robots are in great demand nowadays in both domestic and global markets due to the new industrial revolutionary wave. Therefore, we establish such an incubator center in Liangjiang, aiming to build a conducive environment for robotics industry," said Li Xiangdong, director of the Chongqing Green Technology Institute of CAS.
