SAIC Hongyan, an automobile manufacturer headquartered in Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, exported 64 all-wheel-drive heavy trucks to Turkmenistan on Oct 27.

The trucks were customized to meet the demands of Turkmenistan's landscape, 80 percent of which is covered in gravel and desert with roads that have strict requirements for chassis.

Located in Eurasia's hinterland and with abundant resources, Turkmenistan's market and trade potential have a bright future. Through the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Silk Road Initiative, Turkmenistan has accelerated its infrastructure construction and has a growing demand for construction vehicles.

SAIC Hongyan is increasing its export volume to Central Asia to meet local companies' needs and expand its overseas market.

SAIC Hongyan's market share of heavy trucks has ranked first in China for three years, and it has exported vehicles to Africa and Southeast Asia. During the first three quarters of this year, the company shipped about 1,000 trucks to countries and regions involved in the BRI.

One of the representative automobile manufacturers in Liangjiang, SAIC Hongyan achieved breakthroughs in production and sales this year. During the first nine months of 2020, the company sold 58,637 heavy trucks, a year-on-year increase of 35.8 percent.

Over the next three years, SAIC Hongyan will export 5,000 vehicles worth 1.5 billion yuan ($223.31 million).

Meanwhile, Liangjiang will increase its support of the automobile industry and help it become more intelligent, high-end and environmentally friendly.
