A logistics terminal built by China and Kazakhstan went into operation in the eastern port of Lianyungang on May 19, 2015, becoming the first entity platform for cooperation for the Belt and Road Initiative.
The terminal, with a total investment of 606 million yuan ($98 million) by Lianyungang and the Kazakhstan national railway company, has a planned container yard of 220,000 square meters and 3.8 km of railways.
The terminal is seen as a platform to ship goods from central Asian countries overseas and a boost to the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
Lianyungang in east China's Jiangsu Province is at the eastern end of the New Eurasian Land Bridge and the proposed Northern East-West Freight Corridor.
