Updating the visitors on BOCOG preparatory work for the Games, Liu said the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games provides an important opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between the Chinese and American people.

He described NBC as the most important rights-holding broadcaster of the Olympic Games, which plays a special role in international Olympic movement and Olympic television broadcasting, and expressed hopes that NBC's broadcasting on the Beijing Games will help Americans obtain more clear and concrete knowledge about Beijing and China as a whole.

Committed to staging a high-level Olympics with distinguishing features, BOCOG will provide quality and speedy services for international media in line with international practice and successful experiences of previous editions of the Olympic Games, the BOCOG chief added.

"We hope that the media will increase communications with us and make joint efforts to achieve a successful Olympiad," Liu said.

In his reply, Ebersol said his company will further communicate with BOCOG and relevant Chinese government departments and do its best to broadcast the 2008 Games and as a result, it will enable Americans to know better about Beijing and China. He gave friendly advice on opening and closing ceremonies as well as the torch relay of the Beijing Olympics.

Present at the meeting were Beijing Vice Mayor and BOCOG Executive Vice President Liu Jingmin and BOCOG Executive Vice President Jiang Xiaoyu.
