More than 200 youth brigades in the construction of Olympic projects took part in an emulation launching ceremony at Wukesong Culture and Sports Center in Beijing on Saturday.

The emulation aims at mobilizing youth's energy and passion to build high quality Olympic projects which can withstand the tests of time, according to the organizers.

In the next two years, the performance of all participating brigades will be shown publicly and periodically in terms of safety and quality, scientific management, technical innovation and human resource training. Supervisors' checkup and experts' appraisal will produce the final excellent brigades which will be announced in the first half of 2008, before the 29th Olympic Games opens months away.

The emulation of youth brigades can be traced to 52 years ago. In the past half century, many large projects have been attributable to youth's efforts. Currently there are 2759 youth brigades in Beijing with over 300,000 members devoting themselves to the construction of a new capital city.

More than 300 youth brigades are being involved in the construction of the projects related to the Olympic Games, such as the competition and training venues, auxiliary facilities, city administrative projects, rail traffic and the Capital International Airport.
