in the first gold for the United States at the IAAF World Junior Championships
when he sailed through to the men's 400m hurdles title on Friday.
The fastest teenager this season ran 50.08 seconds, good enough for the title
but a distance from his season best of 49.19 in Sacramento in June when he won
the national junior title.
Bandar Shraheli of Saudi Arabia was second in 50.34 while Ukrainian Stanislav
Melnykov claimed the third place with 50.43.
