MADRID - Real Madrid soccer club president, Ramon Calderon, told media on Thursday that English winger David Beckham will stay, denying rumors in the English press that Beckham was seeking other work.

"I think he will stay. I am almost sure, but I am represent only one part of this possible agreement. But he seems happy here to me," Calderon told press at a conference to announce a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).

Calderon described the press rumors as normal, and said that some quotes had "removed the if" from Beckham's statements. According to Calderon, Beckham had spoken hypothetically about "if" he leaves Real Madrid, and the English press had recorded the statement as "when" he does so.

"Beckham is happy at Real Madrid and we are happy with him. The most likely option is that he will stay. We are a happy marriage like that of the COE and Real Madrid."
