Former British number one Tim Henman will begin his 2007 preparations by playing an exhibition match at next month's Tour of Champions Masters event following his recovery from a knee injury.

Henman sustained a right-knee injury during a second-round defeat against Stanislas Wawrinka at the Swiss indoors. Although the match turned out to be his final ATP competitive outing in 2006, the Briton was relieved when scans revealed the problem was not serious.

"I twisted my knee during the match against Wawrinka. It was very painful in the third set and very swollen when I woke up the next day," Henman said in a statement on Tuesday.

"There was some inflammation of my hamstring and right knee but I've been told it's nothing serious."

He was given the all-clear to play at the Royal Albert Hall, which will host the season-ending championships for the senior's tour, and raise money for charity.

The match will take place on the opening day of the event on December 5.
