French football legend Zinedine Zidane has offered to coach Bangladesh's national team during his visit to the country.

According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, when asked if he would consider coming out of retirement to play in the country, Zidane responded: "I am not interested in playing here, but yes, I am interested in training the Bangladeshi team.

"I am overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the people here."

Zidane was invited to the country by 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus.

A match he played with local youngsters on Wednesday was watched by 25 million people on television, according to the local media.

Zidane famously ended his career in the summer with a red card in extra time of the World Cup final for head-butting Italy's Marco Materazzi in the chest.
