OCA president happy with full-house Asian Winter Games

The sixth Asian Winter Games is a full-house one, which showed that the organizers have made great efforts, said Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah here on Sunday.

Al-Fahad is in the capital city of Jilin province in northeast China for the Winter Asiad to be officially opened later Sunday eveng, and to run through Feb. 4.

A total of 816 athletes from 26 countries and regions, have registered to compete here with all 45 OCA members sending their representatives.

Al-Fahad recalled the first version of the Games in Sapporo, Japan in 1986 when seven countries and regions participated.

"And now, we have 45, a full house!" said Al-Fahad, who is to give a speed at the opening ceremony.

"This showed the movement of the city and the organizers worked very hard for these Games," he said.

"I want to say thanks for all the organization," he added.
