Nascar fines Montoya for inappropriate gesture

Juan Pablo Montoya has been fined $10,000 and placed on probation after making an inappropriate gesture to another driver, NASCAR said on Wednesday.

Montoya's gesture was seen on live television during a practice session for the NASCAR Busch series last Thursday at Phoenix International Raceway.

The 31-year-old Colombian former Formula One driver, who is in his first full season of NASCAR competition, would remain on probation until December 31, NASCAR officials said.

He finished 21st in the Busch race in Phoenix.
