Shaq to make Suns debut against former team(Agencies)
Updated: 2008-02-20 14:37 PHOENIX - Shaquille O'Neal will make his much-anticipated debut for the Phoenix Suns against his old team, the Los Angeles Lakers, in Phoenix on Wednesday.
The future Hall of Fame big man was acquired from the Miami Heat on February 6 in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks but has been sidelined since January 21 with a hip injury. "I just want to go out and have fun, get used to the guys and win," O'Neal said on Tuesday on the team's Web site. "I'm not looking to put up historic numbers. Whatever they ask of me, that's what I'm going to do." O'Neal is expected to play limited minutes at first for his new team, which has a 37-16 record and is percentage points behind the New Orleans Hornets for the top spot in the Western Conference. "Since he is one of the most dominant players in the last 50 years, hopefully we become more dominant," said Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni. |
