Kenya's half marathoners set for Rio

NAIROBI -- The Kenyan marathoners will head for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Thursday for the World Half-Marathon Championships which is scheduled on Saturday.

Former silver medallist Patrick Musyoka Makau and bronze medallist Pamela Chepchumba will lead the Kenyan delegation.

Team manager Patrick Sang, a former world 3,000m steeplechase silver medallist, said all arrangements have been finalized and the team will travel through Johannesburg Thursday before reaching the Brazilian capital.

"We will have one day acclimatizing period. We hope the weather will not affect us a great deal. The team is one of the strongest we have at the moment," said Sang.
